About Chasity


Chasity Melvin embodies style, uniqueness, beauty, and faith. Chasity has overcome highs and lows throughout her 14 year professional basketball career to become a WNBA All Star; ACC Legend and North Carolina State University Hall of Famer. Not only is she known for her stellar basketball career, her success with endeavors outside of the sport including sports show host, radio host, emcee, speaker, coach and philanthropist. Her athletic experience combined with her engaging personality with off-court activities makes her one of a kind.


Chasity was born May 3, 1976 in Roseboro NC to Jimmy and Janet Melvin. She began playing basketball at the age of eleven. At a very young age she proclaimed to her mother that she would be a professional basketball player in America, despite the lack of professional basketball teams at the time. The 6’4″ All American Center realized her dreams in 1998 when she led the N.C. State Lady Wolfpack to their only NCAA Final Four and was drafted in the 1st round of the ABL and the WNBA.


Chasity played in the WNBA for 12 seasons with the Cleveland Rockers, Chicago Sky, and Washington Mystics. She also played internationally for 14 years in Spain, Russia, Poland, South Korea, Italy, Israel, Turkey, and China, amassing championships throughout the world. She solidified her athletic prowess as one of the few females to play in all three professional basketball leagues and win multiple championships abroad in Europe.
Now that her playing days are done, coaching and mentoring young girls and empowering women are her passion. Chasity is a certified Life Coach and desires to help others learn how important self confidence, along with balance and positivity are to becoming and staying successful in your career, post career and life in general. Chasity has traveled to Africa for a Hoops 4 Hope initiative and traveled to Colombia as a sports ambassador for Health and Wellness. She uses her own creative talent and communications degree to produce and host her own True Sports Talk Radio Show on Blog Talk Radio.  You can also get her thoughts and opinions on various topics by reading her blog, “A Player’s Perspective”. She currently lives in Raleigh, NC with her poodle, Reddington, and works for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.Chasity’s book “At the End of the Day” is a must read and the ultimate blueprint for those seeking success, inspiration and an undeniable faith in reaching their goals.
